The Internet Media Device Alliance has just announced their next event which will take at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas, USA.
Together with Jan Nordmann (Fraunhofer USA Digital Media Technologies) and John Ousby (vTuner), I will be talking about the IMDA and the latest developments in radio on connected devices. As chairman of the Technical Committee, (somewhat surprisingly) I will be addressing technical aspects, concentrating on
- the Service Identification for Broadcasters and Aggregators which allows broadcasters to describe their organisation, their programmes and the associated streams in machine-readable form
- the Central Discovery System which the IMDA currently develops – this is basically a notification system that propagates changes in broadcasters‘ metadata to anybody who is interested (most importantly Internet Radios)
- IMDA device profiles 1 („basic“) and 2 („advanced audio“), giving advice on what features really matter on Internet Radios, also reflecting recent trends in terms of the use of various audio codecs
The presentations will be given in the Radio PIT in the Radio/Pro Audio, Central Hall (booth C456) on the afternoon of April 12, 2011.
We will also have a booth in the International Research Park in North Hall (booth N3239). We will be there throughout the exhibition (April 11-14). You can find us on the interactive floorplan.
